if you receive a scsi error message when running the scsiselect utility program, it might be the result of any of the following problems:

    1 a failing scsi device (adapter or drive)

    2 an incorrect scsi configuration

    3 duplicate scsi ids in the same scsi chain

    4 an incorrectly installed scsi terminator

    5 a defective scsi terminator

    6 an incorrectly installed cable

    7 a defective cable

    to solve the problem, make sure that:

    1 the external scsi devices are turned on. external scsi devices must be turned on before the computer.

    2 the cables for all external scsi devices are connected correctly.

    3 the last device in each scsi chain is terminated correctly.

    4 the scsi devices are configured correctly.

    if the problem remains, run the diagnostic programs to obtain additional information about the failing device. if the error remains or recurs, call for service.

    if the computer does not have a scsi hard disk drive, ignore any message that indicates that the bios code is not installed.
