1. connect a terminal device to the switch as described.

    2. power on the switch by either inserting the power supplies or turning on the ac to the power supplies.

    3. at the prompt, press enter to activate the command line interface (cli) on the console.

    if the boot sequence stops and the cli presents a bootrom prompt (pmon]), call procurve networking technical support.

    4. from the exec mode prompt (for example, switch 8100fl]) type enable and press enter.

    the prompt will change to the privileged exec prompt (switch 8100fl#) and you now have full access to the cli. (for information on all of the cli modes, refer to the management and configuration guide.)
