to install a new or replacement module:

    1. make sure you install the module in the appropriate slot.

    (1)switch fabric modules can only be installed in the slots labelled fm-a or fm-b.

    (2)management modules can only be installed in the slots labelled mm-a or mm-b.

    (3)interface modules can only be installed in slots numbered 1-8 (switch 8108fl); or in slots numbered 1-16 (switch 8116fl).

    2. slide the module all the way into the slot. press the ejector levers until they are vertical to seat the module fully in place, ensuring that the pins on the back of the module are completely connected to the backplane.

    ensure that the backsheet (metal plate) of the interface module and not the circuit board is between the module guides. check both the upper and lower guides.

    3. tighten the captive screws on each side of the module to secure it to the chassis.
