if you believe that the switch is not operating correctly, you can reset the switch to test its circuitry and operating code.

    to reset a switch, choose one of the following options:

    1 unplug and plug in the power cable (power cycling).

    2 enter the reload command from the command-line interface.

    power cycling the switch and the software reset and the reload option cause the switch to perform a power-on self-test, which almost always will resolve any temporary operational problem. neither of these reset procedures causes any changes to the switch configuration.
