open the shipping carton of the switch and carefully unpack its contents. the carton should contain the following items:

    one des-1048g fast ethernet/gigabit switch

    one ac power cord

    this user's guide cd-rom

    four rubber feet with adhesive backing

    rs-232 console cable

    six screws and two brackets for rack mounting
