this section will cover the use of another loop product to act as the test device. this is primarily for the test of ports other than the line port, the dte port for example.

    if no test generator is available, another 3500 can be used to emulate a test device, as it has a line connection.

    5.1 connection

    connect a patch cable between the line ports of the test device and the dut.

    5.2 setup

    the test device should be setup as follows.

    master clock = line

    speed = 128k

    operating mode = nt

    test = qrss full

    5.3 bit error test

    setting the test pattern, as above, will start a test on all channels of the line. test duration should be at least 2 minutes.

    if the bit error = 0, then the tested port and related functions are working. the dut is working. else they failed.
