this section describes how to install the mpeg composer software. it is recommended that you install the mpeg composer software after installing the hardware. during installation, the mpeg composer installs the user interface, vtr device control drivers (for composer 200 only), encoding drivers and decoding drivers (necessary when using the optional videoplex decoding board). you install the mpeg composer software under windows nt.

    installation notes

    1、uninstall any previous versions of the mpeg composer.

    2、when using the device control, know to which com port the vtr device control cable is connected.

    3、make sure you have windows nt administrator rights.

    windows nt is a multi-user system. the installation of new hardware or lowlevel drivers is not authorized to all users. note that you won’t be able to install the mpeg composer unless you have administrator rights on the system.

    to obtain administrator rights:

    1. on the windows nt start menu, under programs, select administration tools.

    2. click user manager.

    3. on the user menu, click properties and then select groups.

    4. select administrators and click ok.

    when installing mpeg composer, you must log on to the workstation and not the entire domain.

    to install the mpeg composer starter software:

    1. type e:\composer installation\disk1\setup (where e: is your cd-rom drive) and click ok.

    windows installs the mpeg composer application software and creates the mpeg composer folder.

    2. restart windows.

    3. on the start menu, select the control panel and click devices.

    4. in the device list, make sure the optidvx and winopti drivers appear as started and automatic.

    during installation mpeg composer starter installs the following applications:

    · mpeg encoder

    · mpeg player (the mpeg player is only functional if the optional videoplex mpeg-2 playback board is installed.)

    · diagnostics utility

    · mpeg composer help

    · uninstall utility

    · event viewer

    · readme file

    · upgrade utility

    to install the mpeg composer 200 software:
