with version 2 software, up to four switch 4200 units can be stacked together and then treated as a single manageable unit with one ip address. any combination of 24-port and 48-port units is allowed in a single stack. the units are connected together via the 10/100/1000base-t ports on the front of the unit. starting from the base of the stack, the port marked with an 'up' arrow is connected to the port marked with a 'down' arrow on the unit above.

    stacking is not supported in version 1.0 software.
