the 2601, 2602, 2603, 2608, 2610, 2612 and 2613 mainstreet dtus provide the interface between a dnic line card or module and data devices, such as personal computers, terminals and modems. the dnic line card or module can be located in any of tile following 3600 series mainstreet products: 3600,3645, 3664, 36120, 3612, 3620, 3624 and 3630.

    the 2601, 2602, 2603, 2608, 2610, 2612 and 2613 mainstreet dtus can be located up to 3 km (2 miles) from the 3600 mainstreet series node. dtus convert device data into a 2b + d format (two 64 kb/s b channels for user data and one 16 kb/s d channel for signalling). the dtus include:

    1 2601 and 2612 mainstreet dtus - connect to up to two v.24/rs-232 devices

    2 2602 mainstreet dtu - connects to up to two x.21 devices

    3 2603 and 2613 mainstreet dtus - connect to up to two v.35 devices

    4 2608 mainstreet dtu- connects to up to eight asynchronous v.24/rs-232 devices

    5 2610 mainstreet dtu - provides v.24/rs-232-to-cpss conversion for up to two asynchronous v.24/rs-232 devices
