do not stack dtus on top of each other. the generated heat causes overheating of the unit, which may affect the operation of the dtu and void the warranty.
1. place the dtu on a hard, flat surface.
optional wall-mount and rack-mount kits are available; contact a newbridge representative for details.
2. connect the data devices to the dtu device ports.
for the 2610 mainstreet dtu, only ports 1 and 2 are operational.
figures 2-2, 2-3 and 2-4 identify the device ports, line connector and power connector.
pin and signal assignments of all connections except the line connector (see figure 2-8) are identified in appendix a.

3. clamp a large ferrite block to each device port cable on the 2602, 2612 and 2613 mainstreet dtus and to each pair of cables on the 2608 and 2610 mainstreet dtus. position the block as close,to the connector as possible and secure it snugly with a cable tie. see figures 2-5 and 2-6.

4. connect the dtu line connector to the 3600 mainstreet series node using a direct connection or a wall jack and building wiring (see figure 2-7).

figure 2-8 shows the pin and signal assigrunent of the dtu line connectors. line connector signals are balanced, so polarity is of no concern. the alarm contacts are only applicable to the 2608 mainstreet dtu (see section 4.1.).

5. for the 2601, 2602, 2603 and 2613 dtus, clamp the small ferrite block to the line cable. loop the line cable once through the block, as close to the line connector as possible. see figure 2-9.

6. plug the ac power adapter into the dtu.
7. plug the ac power adapter into an approved ac power source.
the dtu has no power switch; it powers up immediately. the power led lights, and the dtu executes automatic diagnostic tests for approximately four seconds. if all tests pass, all leds (except the power led) flash three times.
8. verify that the correct leds are lit (see section 2.3).
