within a system drive you also have a project system folder that has the name of each of your projects.

    the root of the project's folder on the system drive contains a database folder and media folder. it also contains the vprj project file. you can see this in the example to the right. the vprj file is what you will select when you wish to open this project in the future. if you have set your start-up options to include your default i/o folders within the project folders, you will also see a media directory. otherwise, this media directory will not be located in your project directory, but elsewhere on your drive (the root, for example).

   

    when you open the media folder, you are faced with seven sub-folders.

    when you create files in dpsvelocity, they are automatically saved to the correct folder within this structure so that all the files in your particular project stay together.

    audio - wav files

    av - dvas and multimedia output files you create, e.g., mpeg files

    fx - wfx mask files, etc.

    graphics - still image files you may integrate into your project

    settings - ost files for creating output settings

    title - files that you create in power cg, quick titler or another cg

    misc - all other files that have to do with your project

    the database folder contains one subfolder, entitled version. in this folder, you will find a folder for each version of the project you have created. there can be up to 20 versions in a project. within dpsvelocity, a version is defined as a sub set of the project. each version contains from one to twenty timelines and one or more galleries along with pointers to their associated files.

    each version of your project contains a timeline. if you open or create a new timeline into a version that already has a timeline, the version's original timeline will be overwritten by the new one. you can rename the timeline file in the version. select file ] timeline ] remove to delete the current timeline file and all associated timeline temp files from the project directory.
