opening a new project
select file ] new project from the menu, or click on the new project button in the button bar below the menus.
a window opens offering the opportunity to save the currently open project.
whether you save it or not, the old project closes.
a blank timeline and gallery open, but on top is a save project window.
you have two choices:
cancel. you can use the new untitled project with a blank timeline and gallery and save them as a project later.
designate a new name and press save. in the project system folder and project media folder fields, folders are named after the project's file name. use the browse buttons to choose new locations on the system and media drives to place these folders you cannot change their names.
if you have chosen to be reminded to set new default i/o folder locations with each new project, another window will open, and you can set your default media folders as well.
open project
to load a previously created project:
1. select file ] load project from the menu, or press the open project button. the file open window appears.
2. choose a project file (.vprj extension) to open.
3. click ok. if the current project has not yet been saved, a message asks whether to save or abort changes to the current project. click yes to save the current project before opening the new one.
the selected project is loaded.
note that changes in galleries are updated as they are made, thus they cannot be returned to their original state even if you do not save a project.
if media clips from a timeline have been moved on your drives, you have the opportunity as dpsvelocity loads it to browse to the new location of missing dps files. if you do not replace these files with actual video clips, their spaces on the timeline will be filled in with virtual clips. see chapters 6 and 7 for more information on working with virtual clips.
upon startup, the interface is laid out in a similar working environment to when you last left off. dpsvelocity remembers the last user-defined positions of the timeline, first opened gallery, preview/trim window and vu meters.
