Timeline Tracks
when you launch a timeline in dpsvelocity, it starts with four video tracks (plus the transition track, where clips cannot be placed) and eight audio tracks. you can add to this any time you need to.

to add a track, from the main menu choose edit ] add track, or right click on a blank space on the timeline and choose add track.

a window opens, asking you if you would like to add audio tracks or video tracks, and asking how many tracks you would like to add.

you can only delete tracks if they have nothing on them. to delete a track, from the main menu choose edit ] delete track, or right click on a blank space on the timeline and choose delete track.

    collapse v1, v2 and x

normally dpsvelocity displays the first two tracks as an a/b roll with a transition track between them. you can also view this as a single track.

select file ] preferences ] general in the main menu, or right click a blank space in the timeline and choose preferences ] general. on this screen, check single track mode. this allows you to see clips on both the v1 and v2 tracks on the same line (labeled v1) and view the transitions between them.

in this mode, transitions are indicated by grey segments. if a transition is added between clips that are both on the same track, clips are automatically moved to the other track in order that the transition may take place correctly. the condensed track operates as an a/b roll.
