vu meters allow you to view the audio level for each track, and to create audio nodes for each track.
dpsvelocity's vu meters are open by default when you start the program. if you have closed them (by clicking the x in the top right corner of the vu meter), you can reopen them by selecting view ] vu/eq from the main menu.
when they are first opened, or when you auto tile the dpsvelocity screen (window ] auto tile), the vu meters are very close together and may be difficult to use. click on the right edge of the vu meters with the mouse to spread them out a little.
you can make the vu meter window larger or smaller by placing the cursor over an edge pressing the left mouse button and dragging. you cannot make this window smaller than the default size.
if you drag the vu / eq meters to a part of the screen where they overlap another area, such as a gallery or timeline bin, and then you proceed to do work in that other window, it will take screen dominance and overlap the vu / eq meter. if you have a lot of windows open at the same time, the vu / eq meter can get buried. use auto tile to return it to its default position in the bottom right corner of the screen.
the vu meters by default display two sliders, the master output sliders.
these sliders control the audio level of the final mixed output of the audio.

dpsvelocity can have up to eight mono audio tracks. you can add up to eight sliders to the vu meter, one for each of these tracks. to enable the sliders for these audio tracks, right click on the vu meter to open a settings window.

in the right pane of this settings window there is a column called display. check off the audio tracks you would like to see on the vu meters. note that only audio tracks that have checks beside them in the real-time column can be checked in the display column.
if you see less than eight tracks listed in the track column, you have less than eight audio tracks on the timeline. to add audio tracks to the timeline, close this window and select edit ] add track from the main menu. from the first drop-down menu, choose audio, and from the second, choose the number of tracks you would like to add. click ok and that number of tracks is added to your timeline.
when you click ok on the vu/eq meter options, the vu meter immediately updates.

at the top of each channel is a marker telling the timeline track number that channel is associated with.
each audio channel, including the master audio channel, has a scale to indicate its audio level and a slider so you can adjust the audio amplification for that channel.
