dpsvelocity has two capture modes, selectable from the drop menu at the top of the screen:

    quick capture - capture individual clips as the video signal is being played.

    timecode mode - use with a vtr which can be controlled by the rs-422 protocol and which is connected to your computer, or with any dv device if you have purchased the optional digital i/o card with dv module.

    when you choose this option, the bottom half of the screen opens up to display deck control options and a batch capture list. a capture list specifies the start and end time codes that will be used to capture clips, and then controls your vtr or dv device to record all the clips on the list. timecode mode also allows you to capture single clips that include timecode and reel name, which can later be recaptured (as can clips captured from a batch list).
