Importing an EDL
once you have generated and saved an edl on any system using the cmx 3400/3600 or sony 9100 format, dpsvelocity will allow you to import this file and complete your project. this can be a useful tool for restoring old projects for which a timeline is no longer available, or for creating a timeline from an edl that was created on some other system.

    to import an edl:

    1. select output ] import from edl from your active timeline. a window opens:

    2. use the browse button to select the edl file you wish to load.

    3. specify the type of edl it is (sony 9100 or cmx 3400/3600).

    4. place a name in the clip name field. this is the name that will be used by all of your dva clips.

    5. select a timecode for the start of the first clip on the new timeline to be offset by.

    6. press ok. dpsvelocity opens the file as a new timeline entirely populated by virtual clips. the title of the new timeline is the file name of the edl (without the edl file extension).

you can now create a batch recapture list if you wish to create an exact reproduction of the timeline described by your edl, or you can alter the clips if the entire timeline is not necessary.

when you create a batch recapture list, in the settings window you can each clip will have a unique number appended to the clip name, giving the re-captured clips unique names.
