to connect your scanner using firewire, just plug in the supplied firewire connector to your host computer. if you are running microsoft windows 2000 or windows xp the computer will automatically detect the scanner and ask for a driver. for detailed information on installing this driver please follow the following link. install driver to overcome "new hardware found message"

   

    note: if a firewire cable is plugged into the scanner the scsi connector will be disabled. do not try to run the scanner from both ports at the same time.
