please refer to the quick start guide for information on how to connect to your internet firewall. to access the internet firewall wizard, enter http://192.168.1.254 or http://my.3com.com in the address box of your internet web browser.

    the default configuration of the internet firewall is designed to make the initial set up as easy as possible. there are two options:

    router/modem acting as dhcp server

    if you have a network where your internet router/modem is being used as a dhcp server then the internet firewall wizard requires minimal information.

    the internet firewall wizard:

    1 obtains network information from the router/modem automatically.

    2 automatically assigns ip addresses to all of the pcs on the network. you need to restart all the pcs on your network so that they use the new ip addresses after completing the internet firewall configuration.

    router/modem not acting as dhcp server

    if your internet router/modem is not acting as a dhcp server then you are required to enter some network information by the internet firewall wizard. the wizard will only ask you for the information that it cannot find itself.

    the internet firewall wizard:

    1 asks you for information about your network (for example, ip addresses).

    2 determines appropriate settings for the internet firewall.
