removing an adapter results in a disruption of all network traffic through that adapter.
uninstall intel proset
intel proset does not need to be uninstalled unless you are permanently removing all intel adapters. you can uninstall intel proset using either add-remove programs or the intel cd.
before uninstalling intel proset, you must remove teams and vlans configured in intel proset.
uninstalling intel proset with the intel cd
1 insert the intel cd in the cd-rom drive. the cd autorun program starts.
2 click install software. the installshield wizard window displays.
3 click next. the program maintenance dialog displays.
4 click modify. the custom setup dialog displays.
5 click the icon next to the feature you want to remove. from the pop-up dialog, click do not install this feature. click next.
6 click install.
7 click finish.
the installer removes intel proset from the computer.
uninstalling with add-remove programs
1 from the control panel, double-click add-remove programs. the add-remove programs window displays.
2 select intel(r) proset. click add/remove. the cd autorun displays.
3 click install software. the installshield wizard window displays.
4 click next.
5 click modify. the custom setup dialog displays.
6 click the icon next to the feature you want to remove. from the pop-up dialog, click do not install this feature. click next.
7 click install.
8 click finish.
the proset entry is removed from the add/remove programs window.
uninstall the driver
you should uninstall the intel driver if you are permanently removing intel adapters, or if you need to perform a clean installation of new drivers.
before you uninstalling the driver,
1 make sure the adapter is not a member of a team. if the adapter is a member of a team, remove the adapter from the team in intel proset.
2 uninstall intel proset.
if you perform these instructions out of order, it is likely that you will encounter a phantom adapter. the driver and registry association exist, but there is no physical adapter.
to uninstall the driver:
1 from the control panel, double-click add/remove programs.
2 select intel pro ethernet adapter and software.
3 click add/remove.
4 when the confirmation dialog displays, click ok.
5 click yes to restart the computer immediately or click no to defer computer restart.
remove existing adapters
when you remove an adapter using the instructions below, you also remove the driver.
1 double-click my computer.
2 double-click control panel.
3 double-click system.
4 click the device manager tab.
5 double-click network adapters.
6 select the adapter driver listed below the network adapters group and click remove.
7 click ok.
