Installing the Drivers
install drivers for intel adapters using the network setup utility.
before installing drivers, install service pack 5 or later. advanced features for intel adapters require service pack 6a or later.
when installing adapters on a windows nt system that does not have any other adapters installed, you must install networking support. to successfully install networking and the adapter drivers, you can either:
1 copy the required nt 4.0 networking files to the hard drive and use the intel cd to install the adapter driver, or
2 use the nt 4.0 cd to install networking and create setup disks to complete driver installation. to create setup disks, click create install disk from the autorun screen.
installation with the network setup utility
1 double-click the network icon in the control panel. the network setup wizard displays.
2 in the network adapter screen, click select from list. the select network adapter dialog displays.
3 click have disk. the insert disk dialog box displays.
4 enter the path to your intel cd or installer package and click ok.
5 follow the onscreen instructions to finish driver installation. when the adapter is added, it appears in the network adapters list.
6 click ok.
7 click close. when prompted, restart windows nt.
you can now install the intel? proset software to configure advanced settings and set up teams, vlans, and other features. for nt 4.0, intel proset is automatically installed with the intel base driver.
installing additional adapters
you can install drivers for multiple adapters using the network setup utility.
to install multiple adapter drivers, specify a driver for each adapter physically installed in the computer when completing the network wizard. repeat the procedure above for each adapter.
advanced settings for windows
to view or change advanced settings for your driver/adapter, use intel proset. advanced settings vary by adapter, and are described in the intel proset help.
