Using SNMP
the pix firewall provides support for network monitoring using simple network management protocol (snmp). the snmp interface allows you to monitor the pix firewall through traditional network management systems. the pix firewall only supports the snmp get command, which allows readonly access.
the snmp firewall and memory pool mibs extend the number of traps you can use to discover additional information about the state of the pix firewall, including the following events:
· buffer usage from the show block command
· connection count from the show conn command
· failover status
· memory usage from the show memory command
