raise the upper transport unit fully, then lower the transport to engage lock before you put your hands inside of the scanner.
pull the adf release lever toward you and lift up the adf sheet guide.
3. pressing down on the upper part of the guide plate with your fingers at the two positions shown and then pull the plate toward you to remove it.
4. turn the bail of the brake roller upward and release the lock.
5. pull the brake roller toward you to remove it.
6. install a new brake roller unit in the reverse order of its removal. by holding bail toward you, put the brake roller into bracket and rotate down until it locks in.
7. install the guide plate in the reverse order of the removal. by pressing the guide plate down and pushing the guide plate back, you can install it smoothly.
8. lower the adf upper sheet guide carefully.
9. lift the upper transport unit fully to release the safety lock and then lower the transport unit carefully.
10. clear the brake roller counter.
