this chapter shows the menus used to manage the smart switch via the console management (rs-232 serial port). the smart switch local management interface is a menu-driven application that allows you to configure, manage, and monitor each port of switch follow steps to begin a management session using console managernent:

    1. connect the male end of the rs-232 serial cable to the r5-232 port located at the front panel.

    2. plug the other end to the serial port of a pc or workstation.

    3. power on the smart switch.

    4. run a terminal emulation program as below.
