    fcd-2 is a rate and interface converter for el or fractional el services. fcd-2 provides a synchronous data channel that can be transmitted over the public el networks while paying only for the required bandwidth. fcd-2 data channel supports user-selectable transmission rates which are integer multiples of 64 kbps up to a maximum of 1984 kbps.

    fcd-2 packs data into timeslots in one of two user-selectable methods:

    1 bundled into consecutive timeslots

    2 placed in user-selected timeslots, without restrictions.

    fcd-2 meets all itu requirements of g.703, g.704 and g.732. the line coding is hdb3. it supports both two and 16 frames per multiframe. crc-4 can be supported selectively.
