this section covers the following activities:
1 turning fcd-2 on
2 checking the fcd-2 configuration
3 normal fcd-2 operating indications
4 monitoring fcd-2 performance

turning fcd-2 on
一、to turn fcd-2 on:
·set the rear power switch to on.
fcd-2 performs the self-test: observe the front panel indications.
during the self-test, fcd-2 displays the current software version in the format x.y:

after successfully completing the self-test, fcd-2 switches to the default display-alarm buffer.
if fcd-2 fails the self-test, you will see self test failed in the second row. in this case, fcd-2 must be repaired before it can be used again.
if the configuration data stored by fcd-2 is corrupted, the database cks err alarm message is generated. in this case, you will have to load the default configuration.
二、to load the default configuration:
1. display the alarm buffer header.
2. scroll until you see the database cks err message.
3. press enter to load the fcd-2 default settings
the default settings are listed in table 3-2, table 3-3, table 3-4 and table 3-5.
you can verify the fcd-2 configuration as explained in the following section. if the configuration does not require modification, fcd-2 is ready for operation immediately after self-test is completed. for information how to change the configuration, refer to section 3.6.
checking the current operating configuration
before performing the procedure below, review section 3.4 for the fcd-2 configuration parameters.
during the following procedure, do not press the enter push button, to prevent accidental change of parameters.
