the ber testing is enabled by selecting the bert test option from the front panel or executing the bert tst from the supervision terminal. during the test the local dte is disconnected and an internal pattern generator connects a digital test signal to the transmit input of the local data channel interface. the receive input is connected to a pattern evaluator. the evaluator compares the received and transmitted patterns and detects errors. to perform the test, the loop la ml ioopback that returns the data towards the local dte must be activated.

    you can display the test results and monitor the ongoing ber test from the supervisory terminal by using the dsp bert tst command.

    the ber test results are presented as follows:

    1 on the terminal, the test result is presented either as no errors or errors. errors means that at least one error has been detected during the ber measurement interval.

    2 on the lcd, the test results are presented as good (no errors) or bad (at least one error has been detected during the ber measurement interval). for more details, refer to chapter 5 "operating bert from the front panel".
