smc's barricade pci, smc1255tx, is a dual-speed fastethernet card for pci local bus-compliant computers. a trueplug-and-play device, this card is auto-configurable upon powerup and also supports auto-negotiation to automatically select theoptimum speed and communication mode of an attached device.this barricade pci complies with acpi and onnow pc98/pc99and also supports remote lan wakeup. by connecting thebarricade pci card's wake-on-lan (wol) cable, awol-enabled computer can be managed remotely. software canbe loaded and updated, configurations changed, data backed upand inventory checked, all from a central location. see “remotelan wakeup” on page 5 for more information.

    the barricade pci card also provides smc etherguard(personal firewall) and winetool (personal sniffer tool) featuresand benefits. smc etherguard prevents children/employeesfrom visiting specified web sites. it also automatically blockstrojan horses. winetool allows you to monitor and analyzenetwork traffic.
